Top-grain Leather
Top-grain leather is better than second-layer leather. The differences are as follows:
1. Different fiber density: Top-grain leather comes from the top layer of the animal hide, which gives it a delicate texture and feel. In contrast, second-layer leather is usually made from the middle or lower layers of the animal hide, which makes it rough and hard.
2. Different thickness: Top-grain leather is usually about 1.3mm thick, while second-layer leather is about 1.68mm thick, giving top-grain leather a more delicate appearance.
3. Different production processes: Although both top-grain and second-layer leather are made of genuine leather, their production processes are different. Top-grain leather is made with a precise and minimalistic process, while second-layer leather may involve the use of chemical materials, PVC, or PU films in its production, making the leather harder and less supple.
As different parts of the animal hide are used for top-grain and second-layer leather, the texture and feel of the leather produced are different. Top-grain leather has a smooth and comfortable texture, while second-layer leather feels rougher and less comfortable to the touch.
